This does sound like quite the interesting experiment and I can already tell it's going to be challenging in a number of ways...there are too many quests along the way that involve torture, killing, lying, spying, and a number of issues which would challenge an individual's sense of ethics/morals. It's why I've never tried to apply my own moral code to the game because it would be entirely too exhausting, I think. There have been times I've refused to do certain quests on my paladin, whom I have RP'd with in the past. Anything to do with the Scarlet Crusade, she avoids because she sees them as crazy zealots.

As far as the character goes, if it were me doing it, I'd be tempted to roll a paladin or priest, given that they're types that strike me as already concerned with justice, right and wrong. But then I'm looking at it from an RP standpoint, and you may not be. And I do agree, the DEHTA questchain should be interesting. And Nesingwary (whose actions DEHTA are railing against)....I hated that quest chain for much different reasons than the ethical ones. He's an evil dwarf. Eeeeeevil. >.> The recent pre-Shattering quests got a guildie of mine going "Whaaaa?" with the arresting of 'suspicious citizens' and all. I guess my point is, there are going to be tons of ethical quandaries along the way and I wish you the best of luck!

Hmm, could be very interesting, could spare some real discussions about "ethics" as you apply them to chains. I'll be interested to watch. Does this limit your choice of class and race at all?

Most likely not, no. I think that would be along the lines of a dwarf eating gnome-kabobs.

I'm actually not sure how that one is going to go, either. I know that both Borean Tundra and Howling Fjords are chock full of ethical peril. That DEHTA questline is actually one of the pieces of the game world that inspired this experiment. We'll see how those zones unfold as the Ethical Alt progresses down the road.

This is a very interesting idea! I think the results will make for some good reading. I'd like to see what happens when you get to the DEHTA quests, for instance. Killing sentient beings to help those who can't defend themselves...? Since it's based on your personal ethics, I suppose I will have to wait and see how that plays out. Good luck, I'm looking forward to it!
